Tips for Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions

Healthy Lifestyle, Motivation

Setting New Year’s resolutions is a great way to motivate you for the year. Whether you want to become healthier, more sustainable, or start new projects, resolutions can lead you to significant growth. However, obstacles can sidetrack you from your goals. Luckily, we have great tips for keeping your New Year’s resolutions.

Start Small

Taking on too much or swiftly changing your lifestyle is a common reason why New Year’s resolutions fail or fizzle out. Radically adjusting your behavior can disrupt your day’s flow or derail your resolution plans. Therefore, it’s best to start small. What are small steps that can lead to progression? Maybe you want to adopt a healthier lifestyle in the new year. Instead of drastically changing your eating habits, you can start by incorporating more fruits and vegetables into your meals. Ultimately, small steps will help you reach your overarching goal.

Commit To Clear Action Steps

You must commit to clear action steps to keep your New Year’s resolution. Think of things you can do that will help you achieve your goals. Maybe you want to become more sustainable. Consider trying natural sachets instead of dryer sheets as a zero-waste swap for a sustainable new year. Regardless of your goals, taking action will help you.

Plan for Obstacles

Like anything in life, obstacles can derail you from your New Year’s resolution. However, planning for obstacles can help you navigate challenges. Think about things that may sidetrack you from your resolution and create backup solutions. For instance, if your resolution is jogging outside three times a week, think about potential obstacles, like bad weather. You can jog on a treadmill until the weather subsides as a backup solution.

Track Your Progress

Tracking your progress is one of the best things you can do while achieving your resolution. It’s important to remember that small steps lead to significant growth. You can track your progress on a calendar, spreadsheet, or graph to see how far you have come. In addition, you can take photos for a visual representation of your progress. At the end of the year, you can look at your achievements!

New Year’s resolutions are an amazing way to motivate you for the year. Regardless of your goals, resolutions can lead to significant growth. Sometimes obstacles can get in the way, but you can always get back on track. Hopefully, these tips for keeping your New Year’s resolutions were beneficial to you.

5 Ways To Reinvent Yourself This Summer

Motivation

When you feel stuck or lost in life, a fresh outlook could help you move forward with confidence. Summer is the perfect time to take a personal inventory and identify ways you can grow. With these five ways to reinvent yourself this summer, you’ll be on track to live a rejuvenated life and discover new sides of yourself.

Meditate at Sunrise

As the sun rises earlier and earlier in the day, you have more time to bask in the daylight. Start early and greet the sun! Spend a few quiet minutes at dawn sipping tea or writing in a journal as you mentally prepare to face the day. Waking up early every morning will keep your sleep cycle regular and can boost your mood. Make it a habit and continue even when the days get shorter!

Take up a Hobby

Do something with your hands; it’s healthy to have hobbies that don’t involve staring at a screen. Crafts like knitting, crochet, and macramé are especially rewarding because you have a tangible finished project at the end! There’s nothing quite like the feeling of wearing a pair of socks you made yourself. Learning new things throughout life keeps your brain in good shape.

Switch up Your Style

You don’t have to overhaul your wardrobe or adopt an entirely new style. Adding a few fun accessories to your favorite outfit can keep it interesting and make it feel fresh. A cute bracelet or enamel pin is a perfect way to rejuvenate your classic pieces and bring a smile to your face.

Keep a Journal

What are your goals in reinventing yourself? Are you focusing on your physical or mental health? Get yourself a gorgeous journal and pen. Bullet journaling is all the rage right now; set up a habit tracker, plan out your calendar for the month, or simply write down a few thoughts every day. It’s helpful to have a written record of your journey as you reinvent yourself; it’s a very visual way to mark your progress!

Volunteer

While self-reflection is key on your reinvention journey, it’s also important to look outside yourself. Where do you fit in the world? How can you use your unique talents to help others? Take up a volunteer position at a library, an animal shelter, a food bank, or anywhere you feel called to help.

This summer, look within yourself and at the world around you. Make bold choices that will knock you out of that rut. Face your future with a fresh perspective. With these five ways to reinvent yourself this summer, you’ll greet the mornings with a smile by the time autumn arrives.

Hobbies That Help You Meet New People

Motivation

Making new friends isn’t always easy. Sometimes, people seem so far away and hard to reach. But forming new connections comes with ease when you have things in common with others. If you’re looking to broaden your social circle, participate in one of these top hobbies that help you meet new people.

Find a Club

If you’re looking to make friends, check out your community center for various clubs. Pick one that piques your interest and try attending its meetings. Are you looking to improve yourself? Join a self-improvement club! Find a club that’s filled with people who share what you love. Examples include:

  • A running club
  • A book club
  • A music club

Striking up a conversation to make a new friend becomes a breeze when you already have an interest or two to talk about.

Join a Dance Class

There are all sorts of classes you could sign up for to meet new people, ranging from cooking to painting classes. However, dance is a social activity, and better yet, it’s a great workout! So, start looking into:

  • Irish dancing
  • Ballroom dancing
  • Swing dancing

Before you go to your first class, you’ll want the best equipment, so research what you’ll need. For example, Irish dancing shoes are not the same as ballroom dancing shoes; both styles require different footwork. Purchase entry-level shoes in the beginning and upgrade as needed. You’ll find that ballet, Irish dance, and many other dance styles have shoes for each skill level.

When you do partner or group dances, you’ll learn to rely on another person. During dances, you communicate verbally and non-verbally, allowing you to understand another individual truly.

Start Volunteering

Do you have a cause you strongly believe in? A great hobby that helps you meet new people while benefiting your community is volunteer work! By volunteering, you’re going to meet people who share your values and interests. If you already support a particular cause, head online and search for volunteer opportunities related to it.

Go Exploring

Whether you’re walking the dog or going on local tours, the best way to meet people is by getting out of the house. Look around your community for walking paths or book a tour at a winery you’ve always wanted to visit. What’s important is that you’re doing what you love. Finding friends will follow naturally.

Meeting new people doesn’t have to be tricky or overwhelming. If you already have something in common, the hardest part will already be over. You only need to say hello and strike up a conversation!

Most Common New Year’s Resolutions

Motivation

People establish New Year’s resolutions to improve their lifestyle and, ultimately, wellbeing. Many folks gravitate toward goals that call for adjustments for a more active and organized life. The most common New Year’s resolutions likely look familiar. Read on for inspiration for a New Year objective and advice on how to maintain it.

Manage Stress More Effectively

Finding healthy coping mechanisms for work and life stressors is a prevalent New Year’s goal. Fortunately, there are tons of tools that people can use to relieve stress, such as:

  • Guided meditation
  • Journaling
  • Exercise and stretching
  • Instructor-led yoga

Eat From Home More

Finances and wasted produce are the inspiration behind one of the most common New Year’s resolutions. People set out to eat more meals from home come January 1st to diminish takeout and dine-in expenses.

People aspire to eat from home to minimize their grocery waste, too. When you eat out often, overlooked groceries tend to spoil and get tossed. Prevent wasting food and money and pick up a new skill by learning how to cook this year and doing so more frequently.

Cut Down on Certain Habits

While a lot of resolutions focus on doing more of something (i.e., working out, meditating, organizing), tons of resolutions highlight the desire to cut back on another thing. Many folks strive to cut unhealthy habits out of their life completely. It is helpful to plot cumulative ways to achieve the following goals:

  • Drink less alcohol
  • Cut down on smoking or quit smoking altogether
  • Less screen-time, whether that be scrolling through social media, gaming, or watching TV

With the help of technology, it can be easier to track your goals. Smart phone apps have become a popular assistant to monitoring New Year’s resolutions. Noting your progress is a great way to motivate and remind yourself of your incremental successes.

Follow Altruistic Virtues

Another common resolution is to be more proactive within the community. Whether it is donating more time or money to a social cause you care about, giving back has both external and intrinsic value.

Making charitable contributions to your community gives you a sense of purpose and, in turn, a greater sense of self. Successfully pursue your philanthropic goals by making a charitable plan for the New Year. Creating a structure for your New Year endeavors makes them feel that much more attainable.

It is crucial to approach your New Year’s resolutions, whatever they may be, with strategy. Prepare to make minor life adjustments to achieve your goals and hold yourself accountable. Use tools like apps and journals to track your achievements and give yourself credit when it is due. Be specific with your goals and choose ones that motivate you to optimize the likelihood of success.

How To Begin Your Day With Purpose

Health, Motivation

Before beginning a health routine, I used to start my day like this. The alarm clock would wake me from a sound sleep. As my hand found the buzzer, I slowly hit the off button while dragging myself out of bed. A quick jump in the shower, and I was off to work. That was it. That was my morning routine before I discovered another world of health and well-being. As I reflect back on those days, I realize that I was just going through the motions of life.

Now, I have a morning routine that I look forward to everyday. I enjoy this ritual of sorts because it has transformed the quality of my life in many positive ways.

Improving Vitality

When I initially awake from a night’s sleep and before I get out of bed, I do an 8-minute session on my BEMER therapy mat. This technology helps to enhance blood flow, muscle performance, and improve tissue oxygenation. I also use the BEMER on Sleep Mode which gives my body the unique opportunity to rejuvenate itself on a deeper level.

Boosting Metabolism

Before heading to work, I make 16 ounces of celery juice which has become a staple in my health regimen. Since I started drinking this juice, my digestion has improved, my eyes are clearer, and most importantly, the brain fog has disappeared. Then I make my morning smoothie which is delicious and nutrient-packed.

Enhancing Health

Incorporating quality nutrition and complimentary healing modalities into the beginning of my day has impacted every aspect of my life. I now have energy to do the things I love which is why I offer a BEMER Rental Program. Please reach out for more information if you and your family would like to try BEMER therapy in the comfort of your own home.
